EDUCATION AND APPRENTICESHIPS The
Walt Baptiste Yoga and Health Center was one of the first and
largest holistic health centers of its kind, and opened its doors
in San Francisco in the 1940's long before "body, mind and spirit"
became a household phrase. It was an esoteric university that
encouraged the development of physical health and creative expression.
Hundreds of thousands of people came through the doors to study
health, metaphysics, and the healing arts and continue to do so
to this day.
Today, Walt Baptiste a great Western Yoga Master and former Mr.
America, remains so highly respected in San Francisco that the
current mayor proclaimed a Walt Baptiste Day to honor his half-century
of dedication to the residents of the city.
Michele's fourteen years of training with him began in 1974 at
the Baptiste holistic health complex which included a yoga studio,
weight lifting gym, dance studio, health food store, and natural
foods health restaurant. In 1976, Walt Baptiste provided her with
a four-year retreat experience in the jungles of El Salvador where
her most intensive Yoga and self-mastery training took place.
Michele has also studied extensively with the great nutritionist
Dr. Bernard Jensen, one of the fathers of natural nutrition in
the U.S. and received a certification from him in 1989.
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and has completed
numerous advanced courses in the area of Mind-Body-Spirit Integration
ranging from course audits at UC San Diego Medical School to receiving
Teachings from H.H. The Dalai Lama.
